A four-member delegation of Hyderabad Press Club led by President Altaf Koti met the Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh Jamshoro, Professor Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili at his office on Friday. The Vice Chancellor briefed the delegation on the varsity's administration, academic and research developments, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
He told the delegation that SU improved in all parameters during previous four to five years adding that SU students are in winning positions in competitions being held at national and international level. Dr Ismaili further said the law-and-order situation on the campus has been ameliorated and the environment is made peaceful as well as friendly.
He told the delegation that the HEC ranking of the university will be improved by focusing on research as according to him SU stood on No 8 in Higher Education Commission's ranking last year owing to less work done on research. "We will have to enhance research culture to a great extent by which the raking of the varsity can be improved," Dr Ismaili maintained.
He said Punjab is progressing rapidly in the field of education in comparison to that of Sindh adding that he worked along with the owner of Punjab Group of Colleges Aamir Mehmood for a period of 3 years and he found him dedicated and committed towards education.
"His dedication towards education put the Punjab province on the path of development in education sector but in Sindh, the visionary people like Aamir Mehmood are not ready to come up and invest in the field of education in the province," Dr Ismaili said. He said that the mid-term exams on the campus will start from September 22, 2014, and the semester exams to be held in time. Linking the prosperity of Sindh with the development of SU, he said the law and order have been maintained in a bid to provide peaceful atmosphere to the students adding that the role of Police and Rangers in this regard could not be ignored.
He said that the series of negative propaganda against the university has been brought to an end by introducing positive activities and implementing reforms. Dr Ismaili said as many as 30 thousand students are studying on the Allama I I Kazi Campus Jamshoro and on seven additional campuses whereas over 80 thousand students are doing BSc, BA, MA from various affiliated colleges. The delegation invited Vice Chancellor to meet the press at HPC which he accepted.
