At least five people were killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Friday. According to police and rescue sources, Syed Mohsin Raza Zaidi, 40, son of Syed Liaqat Hussain Zaidi, was shot at and killed by unidentified persons near Federal B Area's Water Pump, falling in the limits of Yousuf Plaza police station.
According to details, the incident occurred when two unidentified armed men barged into a shop of Syed Mohsin Raza Zaidi and opened indiscriminate firing on him and fled from the scene leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) but succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital due to excessive bleeding. FIR of the case has been registered and investigations have begun to arrest the culprits involved in this incident," an official of Yousuf Plaza police station told Business Recorder.
In another incident, one Muhammad Arif was shot and killed by unknown gunmen near Mewashah graveyard, located in the jurisdiction of Pak Colony police station. Police said that the victim, who hails from Abbotabad, came to Karachi recently and was presently residing in Pak Colony area.
Another person, namely Noman, was gunned down by an unknown man in Lyari's Nawalane. The victim's body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy. Meanwhile, one Muhammad Athar, 33, son of Mehmood, was electrocuted while he was busy in some welding work inside a shop in North Nazimabad. His body was shifted to ASH for post-mortem examinations.
Moreover, a three-day-old body of a man was recovered from a house, situated in Phase-I of Defence Housing Authority. The body of the deceased was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
