Defence Day observed with national zeal and fervour

Likewise, other parts of the country, the Defence Day of Pakistan was observed with national zeal and spirit in provincial metropolis on Saturday. In this connection, main function was held at Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium Peshawar in which Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani, participated as chief guest. The Defence Day of Pakistan being observed to pay homage to shuhada.
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the nation. Special ceremonies are being held at all units and formation of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Numerous functions are being held at Army Public schools and other institutions across the province to mark the day.
The Army various units, set-up stalls, displaying military arms, ammunition others stuff and instruments. The Pak-Army para-gliders and Air force jawans demonstrated on the occasion, got great around of applause from the audience present in the ceremony. Pak pipe-band and Batani tribe presented dance in Colonel Sher Khan Stadium. The schools kids sung national anthem and songs and speech writing and painting competitions also held in various education institutions in connection with Defence Day in the provincial capital.
Meanwhile, in district Swabi, the contingents of Pak Army presented guard of honour to Captain Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed, who braced martyrdom while fought on kargla sector. On the occasion, Brigadier Mudassar Azeem laid floral wreath on the tomb of the Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed in district Swabi.
