Ukraine's grain exports rose by 44 percent to 5.98 million tonnes in the period from July 1 September 8, compared with the same period a year earlier, the agriculture ministry said on Monday. The volume included 3.37 million tonnes of wheat, 2.15 million tonnes of barley and 387,000 tonnes of maize, the ministry said in a statement.
It said that an additional 202,000 tonnes of grain were likely to leave Ukraine in the near future. Ukraine plans to harvest no less than 63 million tonnes of grain this year, the ministry has said. Analysts and traders expect that grain exports could reach 30 million tonnes this season, which runs from July to June.
