Briefing the ongoing joint sitting of parliament about the incident of Karachi Dockyard on September 6, Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Wednesday said that officials of Pakistan Navy repelled the attack of miscreants on Karachi Dockyard and arrested seven and killing three terrorists. He said that one Naval officer, who was expelled from Navy in 2013, was found involved in the incident.
He said that five 9 mm pistols, three intercoms, four suicide jackets, two detonators and other ammunition were recovered. He said that this incident was a blowback of the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan. He said that besides heavy weapons, religious literature was also recovered from miscreants. He said that an "insider help" from Navy could not be ruled out.
He said the interrogation of the arrested terrorists was under way. He said one Naval official embraced martyrdom while guarding the dockyard. He said that terrorists breached the security of dockyard on 6th September where they were engaged by Naval security who successfully thwarted terrorist attack. About Sumangli incident, he said a suspicious activity was monitored under night vision surveillance on 14th August, which was timely encountered by a reinforcement. He said four terrorists were killed in the operation. He added security personnel received some minor injuries.
