Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran while addressing a seminar organised by the PU Pakistan Study Centre in collaboration with Pakistan National Forum (PNF) here on Wednesday has said that the Pakistan armed forces showed outstanding performance during the War of 1965.
Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Riaz Ahmed Sheikh was the chief guest while Senator S M Zafar, former Governor Punjab Shahid Hamid, Lieutenant General Naseer Akhter (Retd), Major General Rahat Lateef (Retd), Air Vice Marshal Amjad Khan (Retd), Air Marshal Anwar Mahmood (Retd), Major General Saeed Uddin Qazi (Retd), former Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, President PNF Colonel Ikram ullah Khan (Retd), Director Pakistan Study Centre Professor Dr Massarrat Abid, faculty members and students were also attended the seminar.
Mujahid Kamran said that the average spending on education around the world is five percent of GDP but Pakistan is spending less than two percent on education. He called upon Pakistani leadership to spend at least four percent of GDP on education. Addressing the ceremony, former CJP Riaz Ahmed Sheikh said that no nation could progress or win any war without the sentiments of patriotism. He said that we need to emerge as a nation. He said that National Security Council must be activated to understand and resolve sensitive issue related to Pakistan's security.
Senator S M Zafar said that in 1965, living standard of Pakistanis was much better and we were progressing in all the fields and we were respected in the world. But, he said, now we should think that why we are facing the problems today. Barrister Shahid Hamid said that in a survey conducted by PILDAT, the most trusted institution among the people was Pakistan army.
