Over 2,000 acres of land inundated in Sialkot district

More than 2,000 acres of land had been inundated due to overflowing of nullahs and continuous torrential rains in Sialkot district. As many as 309 villages and a large numbers of houses had also been damaged in recent rains and flood across the district. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that about 31 persons had died in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district. The current flood and rain spell was the worst in the history of Sialkot district.
In Chaprar vast area of agriculture land crops including paddy and houses had been badly damaged which is not a serious loss to national economy but also a setback for the growers. Chaprar, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils were worst hit areas of Sialkot district.
There is an immediate need of spray to disinfect all areas to avoid any outbreak and anti-cholera vaccine drive should be carried out in rural and urban areas of the district.
Meanwhile, Special Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Khawaja Mansha Ullah Butt told that relief in flood and rain affected areas is in full swing. He said that dry food, water and medical facilities are being provided in flood-hit rural and urban areas adding that several relief camps are functioning to facilitate the flood affectees of Sialkot district.
