Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Friday claimed to have recovered a child who was allegedly kidnapped by his maternal uncle for ransom. A spokesman for the CPLC said that a 10-year-old Owais was kidnapped by unknown men from outside his house, located in FB Area when he was returning home from his school on September 9. Kidnappers who were in a white Alto car took away the child with them, he added.
He said that following the incident, parents of the child approached CPLC and Yousuf Plaza police station for the recovery of their child. Getting suspicious that a maternal uncle of the child, Iqbal, could be involved in the kidnapping, police and CPLC jointly interrogated him.
According to the CPLC, Iqbal, during his interrogation confessed that he along with his accomplice had abducted Owais for extracting money from his parents. Later, the police on a tipoff recovered the child from a house, located near Ziauddin Hospital, Karachi, but no one from amongst the culprits involved in the incident was present there. However, the maternal uncle of Owais is under the custody of Yousuf Plaza police, he added.
