Yuan slips

China's yuan slipped against the dollar on Friday after the central bank fixed a weaker midpoint for a second consecutive day, but it was set to rise slightly for the week as market sentiment on the currency improves. The People's Bank of China fixed the yuan's midpoint at 6.1468 per dollar prior to market open, 0.02 percent weaker than the previous day's 6.1453. The spot market changed hands at 6.1325 near midday, weakening 0.04 percent from Wednesday's close at 6.1300.
