Spy agencies warn of possible attack on US Consulate in Karachi

The intelligence agencies on Tuesday alerted Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh and Director General (DG) Rangers of a possible terrorist attack by al Qaeda on US Consulate General in Karachi. According to a private television channel, the intelligence agencies issued an alert that al Qaeda could target the consulates of friendly countries including the US Consulate General Karachi.
The National Security Institute has already written to the IGP Sindh and DG Rangers regarding the possible threats. The sources further revealed that the provincial Home Department had already ordered to beef up security around the US Consulate among other consulates. As a result, the entry and exit pathways to US Consulate Karachi have been closed.
