Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, said in Islamabad, the PML(N) is the ruler during day time while at night the city is governed by the two parties staging the sit-in. While talking to the reporters at Mansoora, he, however, said all the three parties would have to shed their egoism to safeguard the country's solidarity and to strengthen the constitution and democracy.
He said, unfortunately, the governments in the country always ignored issues until the crisis deepened. In the present situation, he said the government has shown total indifference on the issues of electoral rigging and the killings of the PAT workers due to which the issue reached a blind alley.
He said the political Jirga successfully brought together the parties of the conflict to the negotiation table. The three parties held talks for as many as 37 times. For the fist time in the country's history, he said the political parties joined hands to safeguard democracy and with their consent, a political Jirga was formed. The Jirga had broken the deadlock and given recommendations to the two sides. It would be in the interest of the both sides to accept these. He said the Jirga was in touch with the leaders of all the three parties and it would continue its efforts till the issue was solved. "We would like to come up to the expectations of the nation on this core," he added. He said as long as the recommendations of the Jirga were not accepted, politics and democracy would remain a hostage. "We would like the participants in the sit-in to return home successfully," he said. He further said if all the institutions worked within their limits, such situations would not crop up.
The JI chief said the Western powers wanted to create the situation of Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan in this country, he added. In response to a question, Sirajul Haq said that the JI's stance on the Kala Bagh Dam was the same as of the nation. He said flood preventive measures were adopted all over the world, so why could not we do the same in this country.
He said the Federal Government had not discharged its duties regarding the protection of the masses from floods sand the construction of dams with the result that the flood was playing havoc once again, he added. He said the JI and the Al-Ki Khidmat Foundation are doing their duty to provide every possible help and assistance to the flood-hit people.
Earlier, while addressing the opening session of the JI central Shoora, Sirajul Haq said the misdeeds of the human beings always resulted in problems and calamities. He said every human being has the compulsions of hunger and fear and as long as these are not solved, the collective life would continue to suffer. He said Almighty Allah commissioned His Prophets in all times for reforming the faith and actions of the masses. He said, unfortunately, the Muslims today have confined themselves to faith only and have shut their eyes to the practical life.
