Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron) Abdul Qadir Baloch said on Wednesday that the problem of terrorism would be overcome in six months to one year time. Speaking at the launching ceremony of Human Development Report 2014 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), he said that the country was fighting terrorism and once peace was achieved, the government would be able to fully focus on social sector.
The Minister acknowledged that there were serious problems of law and order, health and education sector. He also underlined the need to pay special attention to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and a 'Marshal Plan' would be required for development to bring it at par with the rest of the country after the menace of terrorism was eliminated from tribal area.
Baloch further stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also been suffering due to on-going terrorism and free movement of people remained almost impossible in the province. "The government's job is to bring peace back in the country to focus on social sector. These are our problems and we have to deal with them," he said, adding that the country appreciates the help provided by the donor agencies including UNDP to deal with the huge task.
