Sit-ins destroyed economy, promoted vulgarity: Fazl

JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the sit ins over the past one month have badly damaged the economy of the country and destroyed peace and order in the country. Talking to media at Jamia Binoria after offering condolences on the assassination of son in law of Mufti Naeem here on Wednesday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the sit ins have given rise to obscenity and vulgarity in the federal capital.
He said those organising the Dharnas have met their political deaths and was of the opinion that if the media ignores or boycotts their proceedings for 24 hours, these would end forthwith. The JUI (F) Chief said that it is being said from containers that if the government and other institutions want to extend help to flood affectees and IDPs, they would not become a hurdle. He said in case of affectees, be they of war or earthquakes, a campaign is launched under the government to extend them maximum assistance. He pointed out that during earthquake in Hazara, people took relief trucks from Karachi for the help of their brethrens. However he said it did not happen this time
He said whenever action is taken against those at the sit ins, a campaign is launched over the media that the third force could step in. He said their (JUI's) patriotism is not less than any one else. He said that people are being killed on linguistic and sectarian basis and blamed the state institutions that instead of controlling the situation, they are more interested in encouraging them. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said as part of the international agenda, Islamists have been presented as terrorists and they were confronting this situation.
