Through its press statement, K-Electric (KE) has condemned the physical assault on its employees as well as members of the media by the residents and guards of Paganwala House. KE through its anti-theft raid visited the Paganwala House on Tuesday after confirmed theft reports, and the team went along with media personnel to have the meters of the Paganwala House installed outside the premise.
According to the statement, KE team in collaboration with the police conducted this raid at the Paganwala House located in the Staff Line area. However, when the KE team attempted to remove these meters, they were attacked by security guards at the residence and were stopped from installing meters outside the premise. Previously, KE had sent notices to Mian Absar Paganwala so that meters could be transferred from inside the premise to outside, but the customer ignored these notices.
Moreover, it was revealed during bill scrutiny that the average consumption of the meters at the 5000 sq. yd. house remained at 300 units throughout, which is far less for a house of that size and having a sanctioned load of 52KW. On the other hand, the FIA only recently raided and caught Mian Absar Paganwala's relative, Mian Waqar Pagganwala who indulged in electricity theft at a water hydrant located in the area of Garden.
The assault on KE team and accompanying media personnel proved yet again that electricity theft is being carried out at the residence. The owner of the house, Mian Absar Paganwala had been previously caught stealing electricity from other business centres as well. The management of KE unanimously condemns the assault on KE officials and media personnel and appeal to the government to deal with the culprits firmly.-PR
