Ambassador of France Philippe Thiebaud met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Monday and discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations in the meeting. Talking to the French Ambassador, the CM said France was an important country of the European Union and there were close friendly relations between Pakistan and France. He also said there was a need to further promote trade and economic ties between the two countries.
"Exchange of delegations between the two countries can help increase bilateral trade. Export of Pakistani textile products to European Union is increasing due to free access to open market in the wake of granting of GSP Plus status to Pakistan," he added. He also said French companies and investors could benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially in Punjab, as the Punjab government was providing facilities to investors on priority basis. Some French companies were working in water supply and infrastructure sectors in Punjab, he added.
