Parliamentarians condemn sit-ins

23 Sep, 2014

A national representative body having supreme legislative powers within Pakistan has condemned the sit-ins of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT). The parliament - made up Senate and National Assembly - has expressed complete disapproval of protests by PTI and PAT.
The legislators were unanimous or fully in agreement on the virtual occupation of Constitution Avenue by the workers and leadership of these two parties. According to a resolution adopted by the parliament, "This joint sitting of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) emphatically reiterates its unequivocal, unwavering and unqualified resolve to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the democratic system, sanctity of state institutions and the rule of law and the sovereignty of Parliament which embodies the will and the mandate of the people of Pakistan. Parliament condemns the dharnas (sit-ins) in the Red Zone of Islamabad... ." The parliamentarians have said exactly what they are thinking and feeling about these two 'dharnas' or sit-ins. I'm sure this awful truth will begin to dawn on both Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri.
