Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday directed the Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) to make its schemes more competitive and ensure facilitating customers. Chairing a meeting held to review the overall working and functioning of CDNS, Dar said the CDNS should come up with innovative schemes to attract more and more savings.
Additional Secretary Finance (Budget) Dr Shujaat Ali, briefed the meeting about the status of different schemes and the profit offered on them. He also dilated in detail about the challenges faced by the Directorate of National Savings. During the course of the meeting, it was also decided that automation in different offices of the CDNS may be carried out on fast track basis.
The meeting decided that fixation of NSS (national saving schemes) rates may be reviewed bi-monthly in line with the provisions of the monetary policy. It was decided that CDNS may submit proposal to the ministry regarding payment of profit to customers through their bank accounts. Secretary Finance, Dr Waqar Masood, Advisor Finance Division, Rana Assad Amin and DG CDNS, Saeed Ahmed Rana also attended the meeting.
