Ebola-hit Guinea, Sierra Leone get 'home' venues

25 Sep, 2014

Guinea and Sierra Leone will host 2015 Africa Cup of Nations matchday 3 qualifiers in Morocco and Cameroon because of the Ebola epidemic, the organisers said Wednesday. A Confederation of African Football (CAF) statement said Guinea would play Ghana on October 11 at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca. Guinea defeated Togo at the same venue this month in a previous Group E home match.
Sierra Leone will face Group D leaders Cameroon on October 10 at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde, the home ground of their opponents. The Leone Stars suffered a similar disadvantage this month - playing a home game against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Lubumbashi.
