Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday said the assemblies would not complete their five-year term and new elections would be held before 2018. Talking to the media persons, the PTI leader said people chanted 'Go Nawaz Go' outside the General Assembly. He announced that Imran Khan's "Azadi Container" would move from the federal capital to Punjab, from where it would reach Sindh.
"However, Imran Khan will announce the date of container's departure from Islamabad," Qureshi said. He said the container would also visit Lahore and Quetta, while sit-in in Islamabad would continue. Qureshi said Lahorites had made October 30, 2011 public gathering successful by attending the event in large numbers, adding the PTI would launch movement for "Naya Pakistan" from Lahore.
Criticising Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the PTI leader said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's philosophy had been buried by present PPP leaders. He said protesters were chanting "Go Nawaz Go" slogans in New York when the PM was delivering his speech in UN General Assembly session. He claimed that if elections were held under independent election commission, the PTI would sweep the polls in the whole country. "Imran Khan would become PM if free and fair elections are conducted," Qureshi claimed.
He said they knew the political move behind National Assembly speaker's decision to call PTI representatives individually for verification of resignations. Qureshi said Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq was a respectable man and his party representatives would soon meet political Jirga comprising opposition members. He said Karachi had welcomed Imran Khan with open arms and the PTI expect a massive reception in Lahore.
He said they were practicing their constitutional right of peaceful protests. He further explained they intended to expand the sit-ins all the way to Sindh passing through villages of Punjab and they had started enhancing contacts in interior Sindh. He stated people of Sindh had had enough of corruption too. "We therefore reject politics of corruption." Shah Mehmood Qureshi said time would decide if Javed Hashmi was Daghi or Baghi.
