The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) killed a suspected kidnapper in an encounter while Sohrab Goth police killed an alleged robber. An AVCC team, on a tip-off, raided kidnappers' hideout in Surjani Town in wee hours of Sunday. The AVCC officials claimed that the raid was conducted on the information provided by Akram Hashmi, an accused already in Police's custody, but the kidnappers resorted to indiscriminate fire and tried to escape.
Police officials said that during the exchange of fire, Hashmi was killed by the firing of his own accomplices, who managed to escape under the cover of fire.
AVCC officials further claimed that Hashmi was arrested few days back, adding that during investigation, he had revealed to have abducted a doctor, Javed, resident of DHA and later killed after getting ransom money.
An alleged robber was killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Sohrab Goth locality. Police officials said that four robbers were busy in snatching cash and mobiles from citizens in Memon Goth locality. In the meantime, a police party on patrol in the area spotted the robbers and tried to arrest them but they opened fire on the police. Police returned the fire, as a result one of the robbers was killed and another was arrested while two of their companions managed to escape.
The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as Nijad while the arrested accused was identified as Nawaz. Stolen cash money, cell phones, motorcycles and weapons were also recovered from their possession.
District Malir police arrested four members of a gang allegedly involved in buying sacrificial animals from the cattle market on Super Highway while using fake currency notes. According to Police, fake currency amounting to Rs0.8 million was also recovered from their possession. A case against them registered.
Pakistan Rangers Sindh claimed to have arrested three criminals including a target killers affiliated with a political party during a targeted action in Ram Swami.
The raid was conducted on the basis of intelligence tip-off and illegal weapons were also recovered from their possession. The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location while further investigation was underway.
Rangers also claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers from Sharafi Goth and recovered illegal weapons and narcotics from their possession.
