SSP for zero tolerance against corruption

Renewing the commitment make Islamabad police more service oriented, SSP Asmatullah Junejo Sunday said there would be zero tolerance against embezzlement and corruption. The SSP, in a statement, said corruption was a real threat for good performance. Therefore, corrupt elements and black sheep in the police department would be identified and dismissed from the services, he added. He said the policemen bringing bad name to the department would not be tolerated and they would have to face disciplinary action.
He said an accountability system had been started to monitor performance of the Islamabad police. Several officers had been punished for dereliction of duties / absence, negligence, poor investigation, and involvement in corruption.
The SSP said the police officials performing well would be encouraged while those having bad reputation would not be given any important assignment. The department would be purged of corrupt officials, he added.
