The special committee constituted by the district administration for the abolition of illegal bus stands from the city evolved strategy and after Eidul Azha a massive crackdown will be launched against them. The committee was established after the issuance of directives by Commissioner Peshawar Division Munir Azam for abolition of illegal bus stands in the city.
Following the directives, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam constituted the committee with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Osama Ahmad Warraich as chairman. The committee was directed for preparation of the list of all illegal bus stands and issued directives for their abolition.
In this connection, a meeting of the committee was held here with Additional Deputy Commissioner in the chair. Those who attended were included Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Naimatullah Khan, SP Traffic, Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs) Abdul Nabi, Mehmood Ahmad and District Legal Prosecutor, Iftikhar Ahmad. During the meeting, Secretary RTA, Naimatullah Khan handed over the list of all illegal bus stands to the chairman of the committee and gave briefing on the number of auto-rickshaws, taxies, public transport and their time schedule on different routes.
The meeting was told the recently launched Hiace Service from G.T. Road to Karkhano Market has received tremendous response from the people and the meeting decided the starting of such Hiace Service on Ring Road also for which 33 Hiace vans will be provided. The meeting also decided the installation of tracking system on public transport plying on different routes of the provincial metropolis and for their controlling a control room will also be established for guarantee taking of timely action against those violating route permits.
