JI chief concerned over growing miseries of IDPs

Jamaat-e-Islami central Chief Siraj-ul-Haq has said that the problems being confronted by the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan Agency, are getting grave, asked the government to ensure early repatriation of the displaced families to their respective home towns.
While addressing a news conference on Saturday here at Al-Markaz Islami, the JI provincial head office, Siraj-ul-Haq said that JI will convene a "Representative Jirga" for the IDPs of North Waziristan Agency on October 9, in Peshawar. He urged the government to ensure transportation facilities to the IDPs, and given permission to those tribal families, whose areas were declared clear.
Siraj also informed that his meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari in Mansura, Lahore was in a good mood and remained in a pleasant environment, as meeting among the political forces are in the best interest of the country. Flanked by the JI provincial general secretary Shabbier Ahmad Khan, vice amir Mushtaq Ahmad, and Jamiat Ittehadul Ulema chief Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, he said that the problems being faced by the IDPs of NWA were gone in the lurch due to on going sit-ins in Islamabad, adding the government couldn't give due attention towards their issues. The patience of the IDPs, he said, was getting loose, and which is not a good omen.
The JI amir alleged that the government was ignorant of the miseries being faced by the IDPs, as no attention was being given to resolve their issues. He vowed that the entire nation is with the IDPs of NWA in this time testing situations. He informed that the JI decided to convene a Jirga for the displaced tribal people in Peshawar on October 9 that aims to highlight the basic issues and numerous difficulties being faced by the displaced people in the makeshift camps. In the Jirga suggestions would be collected to resolve the issues of the IDPs on priority basis, and the future line of action for their return would also be chalked out.
Siraj also expressed concern over the speedy spread of polio virus and termed it the incompetence of the government and authorities concerned. He said that government was failed to take solid steps for the eradication of this menace, adding one of the main reason for which is not holding Local Bodies election in the country.
