The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday finalised comprehensive action plan for collection and disposal of waste of sacrificial animals on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha falling on October 6.
A CDA official said that under the plan, the Authority has cancelled leaves of 2,000 employees including cleaners and supervisory staff of Directorate of Sanitation and other relevant department to carry out effective operation for collection and proper disposal of entrails, offal and waste of sacrificial animals.
The Authority had also dug out 20 deep ditches at various locations in the city where offals, entrails and other wastes of sacrificial animals would be disposed of in line with hygienic standards, he said.
He said CDA had also established an emergency help line at Sanitation Directorate, which would be functional round the clock. He said the CDA's special teams would be provided more than 100 vehicles, tractors with trolleys, compactors, trucks dumpers and dozers etc, adding that special teams would also maintain cleanliness at Masajid and Imambargh.
The official said the Authority would also sprinkle lime powder at sacrificial places as well as around the garbage trolleys in the city, adding the residents of Islamabad could address their complaints for collection and disposal of wastes of sacrificial animals at Sanitation Directorate Help Line 1334 and Telephone 051-9213908, 051-9203216, 051-9211555.
He said that under the plan the city had been divided into four zones for effective implementation of the action plan. "Zone-I includes F-5, F-6, G-5, G-6, Blue Area, Saidpur Village and Bari Imam. Areas in Zone-II include Faisal Masjid, Sector E-7, F-8, F-7, G-7 and G-8. Similarly, Zone-III consists of F-10, F-11, Golra Sharif, G-9, G-10, G-11, G-13, while Zone-IV includes H-8, H-9, H-10, H-11, I-8, I-9, I-10, I-11, Highway, Model Village Humak, Shahzad Town, Rawal Town and Margalla Town," he said. The CDA spokesman said the Authority finalised the action plan during a meeting which was presided over by CDA Chief Maroof Afzal and also attended by members on environment and administration, director sensation and other senior officials.
He said Chairman CDA directed the Member Environment Syed Mustafain Kazmi to make all-out efforts for provision of quality service for collection and disposal of animal waste. He issued directives to utilise all available resources for a successful operation to keep the city in clean condition during Eid-ul-Azha through effective measures.
The Chairman also directed Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed to co-ordinate timely with Environment Wing and ensure availability of manpower and other resources of Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) for a successful cleanliness drive.
