06 Oct, 2014

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has contacted UK authorities to probe into the case of Afghanistan nationals travelling to Britain from Pakistan on fake documents on Sunday. FIA has officially begun the investigations to probe the arrest of Afghan nationals at the Benazir International Airport for allegedly travelling on forged passports. According to sources, FIA has demanded handing over of a smuggler named Abid who has been involved in several smuggling activities.
FIA has also sought the record of those who were travelling on fake passports. FIA camp officer has been arrested at Islamabad airport whereas the police are searching for the PIA officer named Khurram Shahzad.
According to FIA, 5 officials of PIA's task force are alleged to be involved in smuggling. The police have also recorded the statements by FIA Deputy Director and Shift Incharge. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has advised the Director General of FIA to provide him with the case updates. He said that human trafficking incidents are defaming the country in the world and actions needs to be taken against the FIA officers involved in it.
Last week at least 10 Afghan nationals were allowed by FIA's immigration staff to travel to UK from Islamabad's Benazir Bhutto International Airport on fake passports and visas. They were caught by the UK police, causing fear across UK over suspected human trafficking and terrorism from Pakistan.
The UK authorities later lodged a complaint with the Pakistan government. According to sources an alleged human trafficking racket is operating at Benazir International Airport and the issue has raised concern of the federal ministers.
