Co-operation between Pakistan and Germany in various sectors a role model for other countries. This was said by Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr Tilo Klinner who hosted a reception here at his residence to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the reunification of Germany which began with the bringing down of the Berlin Wall, said a press release issued here on Sunday.
In his brief address, Dr Klinner said there was tremendous potential for expanding trade between Pakistan and Germany.
He said that an organisation has been set up for the sole purpose of facilitating bilateral trade.
He said Germany was keen to see Pakistan emerge as prosperous, developed nation. The best way to do this was to ensure highly trained and educated manpower for Pakistan.
He said in this respect Germany was helping Pakistan set up vocational and apprenticeship training programmes for youth.
The envoy said hundreds of Pakistani girls and boys had received vocational training which would help them chalk out prosperous careers and a good life.
He added that the outstanding students among them have received further specialised training in Germany in their respective professions.
He said that Germany was also coming closer to Pakistan on the culture sector through increased interaction and regular holding of cultural programmes. Germany was helping Sindh to preserve its heritage through numerous projects initiated in the rural areas, he added.
Dr Klinner's short address was followed by a sumptuous dinner that was thoroughly enjoyed by guests at the reception which included Chief Minister's Adviser for Culture and Tourism, Sharmila Farooqui, top government functionaries, the diplomatic corps and elite of the city.
