'Micro plan to be implemented for dengue control in Rawalpindi'

Under the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the District Government of Rawalpindi has chalked out "Micro Plan" to implement and monitor dengue control activities of all related government departments and organisations in Rawalpindi district. The responsibilities of concerned departments had been categorically defined in the Micro Plan and performance of all concerned would be evaluated on daily basis to overcome this fatal disease with close co-ordination of civic authorities.
This was revealed by Advisor for Health to the Punjab Chief Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique while presiding over a meeting here on Friday. Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division Zahid Saeed and DCO Sajjad Zafar Daal were also present on the occasion.
Details of the Dengue Control Micro Plan were shared by Rawalpindi DCO Sajjad Zafar Daal and also briefed about the activities of government departments for eradication of larvae.
Khawaja Salman Rafique underlined the core responsibility of every government department and said that the government has given top priority to overcome dengue and keeping in view the prevalence of dengue in high risk areas special teams had been constituted to remain present in most affected union councils. He was informed that high risk areas had been kept under strict surveillance so that immediate remedial measures should be adapted to for elimination of larvae. It was further informed that carpet fogging also continued in affected localities of Gawalmandi, Dhoke Ratta, Javed Colony, Chamanzar Colony, Mohanpura, Arjunnagar, Hazar Colony and adjoining areas.
Salman Rafiq said he will personally review anti-dengue measures and will inspect hospitals and affected areas. He also ensured for provision of required funds for provision of medicines to dengue patients. It was also informed that a control room has been set up in the EDO Health office, in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Rawalpindi, where health officials had been deputed and any one can visit and contact at Telephone No 051-4931965 in case of any emergency or seeking information about dengue control activities. Similarly, it was also pointed out that separate dengue beds along with required medicines had been allocated in teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi, including Holy Family, District Headquarter and Benazir Bhutto hospitals.
