'Polio eradication government's top priority'

Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said that complete eradication of polio is top priority of the government. He said that the officers who are failed to achieve required results of anti-polio campaign will be removed. He directed to immediately convene a meeting of all EDOs Health in this regard. He said this while presiding over a meeting to review micro-planning for eradication of polio and polio situation at Civil Secretariat here on Saturday.
DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Additional Secretary Health (Tech) Dr Salman Shahid, Director Health (EPI) Dr Munir Ahmad, Provincial Chief of WHO Dr Abdul Islam, representative of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Dr Aslam Chaudhary, Dr Rana Mushtaq, Ivon of Unicef and Saeed Shamsi of Rotary Club attended the meeting. Rafiq directed that like dengue, public representatives and notables of areas should be included in planning and operational level at union council level in anti-polio campaign. He said that strict monitoring and accountability policy for polio eradication has been started at every level. He directed that micro-planning of polio campaign should be continued carefully, keeping in view all aspects for which social mobilisation is essential. He directed to remove gaps of micro-planning. He further said that Polio Emergency Action Plan will be implemented strictly in Punjab.
