A division bench of the Lahore High Court here on Wednesday summoned a responsible senior official of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for November 20 (today) to answer several queries arisen during the hearing of petitions against the ban on YouTube.
A NGO "Bytes for All" and others filed the petitions demanding to lift the ban imposed on YouTube by the federal government after a blasphemous movie clip was uploaded on it. In this case the government took a plea that the website was blocked in Pakistan on a direction issued by the Supreme Court. The petitioners pleaded that the ban was amounted to infringe fundamental human rights to read and knowledge. They said a large number of people had been affecting by the ban.
