Punjab University's Child Welfare Centre (CWC) organised an event to celebrate the "International Day of Persons with Disabilities" here on Wednesday at CWC. Dean Faculty of Education Professor Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, renowned social worker Raja Munawar, Principal CWC Ayesha Wajiullah, Incharge Chairperson Department of Special Education Dr Humaira Bano, special students, their parents and teachers attended the ceremony.
In her address, Dr Mumtaz said that special children deserved more love and care. She said despite physical, visual, hearing or mental limitations, they could easily understand and communicate their messages. She congratulated CWC for arranging a function for special persons for creating awareness among the teacher, parents and society.
She announced honorarium of Rs 15,000 for the teachers of disabled students from her own pocket. Raja Munawar said that they are not special children but super children. He donated Rs 20,000 for the welfare of special children. The special children also presented tableau and national songs on the occasion.
