The Karachi Port handled 160,681 tonnes of cargo comprising 112,356 tonnes of import cargo and 48,325 tonnes of export cargo including 4,563 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 112,356 tonnes comprised of 61,510 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,260 tonnes of general cargo; 9,002 tonnes of DAP and 33,584 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,325 tonnes comprised of 41,682 tonnes of containerised cargo; 571 tonnes of general cargo; 5,172 tonnes of marbel stone and 1,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,563 containers comprising 2,574 containers import and 1,989 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,534 of 20's and 485 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 35 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 765 of 20's and 245 of 40's loaded containers while 362 of 20's and 186 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were twelve ships namely Northern Guild, Hyundai Singapore, Deira, OEL Trust, Ashahda, Prisco Ekaterina, Icdas-11, DL Aster, Marine Chemist, Al Mahboobah, Eleni-D and Galleon carrying containers, oil tankers, bulk cargo and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessels viz. OEL Trust, Northern Prelude, MOL Dignity, KMTC Mumbai, DL Aster, Marine Chemist, Al Mahboobah, Classy Victoria, Sat Bellatrix, Eastern Sun, Kumano and Thorco Sapphire carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Northern Prelude, MOL Dignity, Kumano and Thorco Sapphire carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday. There were three vessels viz. Posen, MT Quetta and Golden Denise carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz. YM Portland, Kota Kasturi, Rich Sino, Asavari and Oriental Marguerite carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
