A student has come up with a solution for all those who end up damaging their smartphones by accidentally dropping them, by inventing a phone case that will never hit the ground.
Smartphones are often very sensitive; one drop and it can cause damage to the phone. Although there are a number of phone cases, but they usually fail to do their job. Philip Frenzel, a German student, has acknowledged the problem of taking extensive care of smartphones from damage and falling.
He has invented an airbag-kind active dampening (AD) phone case that has springs attached to it and can detect when the phone falls, preventing it to touch the ground. In the phone case, Frenzel attached sensors that detect when the phone is in free-fall.
This induces the release of four springs attached to the phone that usually lie inside the case, hidden from the eyes. The popped- and curled-up springs do their job by causing the phone to bounce off when it hits the ground; reducing the impact and preventing any cracks or scrapes. After the terrifying moment, the phone will hopefully be unharmed and the springs can be folded back to their holsters, explained Tech Crunch.
The phone case is not yet available for sale but Frenzel has acquired a patent for it. He has also received an award from German Society of Mechatronics for his invention, reported Business Insider.
