'Educate a Girl', an initiative of Dawood Global Foundation, celebrated 500 vocational scholarships funded for deserving girls in Pakistan to become journalists, as part of their mission to educate 1,000 girls. Swiss Consul General to Karachi Emil Wyss, who personally funded the 500th scholarship, was chief guest at a special ceremony at Cafe Flo to commemorate the occasion.
Samir Dossal (President, Canada Pakistan Business Council, & Angel Donor) and Imitiaz Seyid (Head of South Asia Markets, Royal Bank of Canada) were special guests who had flown in from Toronto, Canada. The ceremony gave out the most recent scholarships enabling donors to personally meet with their winners. Special Awards were also given by Advisory Council members Syed Ali Raza and Saad Amanullah Khan to scholarship alumni Fariha Fatima (Abb Takk), Pirah Qazi (newscaster PTV) & Jaweria Ali (newscaster Health TV) for excellence in journalism and Mehwish Ayyub, Sanam Ashraf and Afiffa Batool for contribution to women development in Pakistan. Angel Donors present included Erum Lakhani, Maliha Bhimjee, Varah Musavvir, Bina Ali, Afroza Bhamani, Dr Fouzia Khan, Moneeza Butt, Rafique Dawood & Midas Safety.-PR
