Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) leaders on Sunday visited the arson affected Timber Market and reviewed the estimated loss occurred by the fire. On the occasion, the JI leaders also met with the residents of Timber Market and ensure full assistance on behalf of the Jamaat-i-Islami.
The leaders, including Muhammad Hussain Mehnati, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Abdul Wahab, Ameer JI District South Abdul Wahid Shaikh and Mehmood Hamid, were among those JI leaders who visited the Timber Market.
Talking to media persons, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati termed the incident a "complete failure of the Sindh government and local bodies departments", adding that if the fire tenders reach on time at the place of incident, then this massive devastation could not be occurred.
On the occasion, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati demanded of the government to conduct judicial inquiry into the incident and punish those who found involved into the said incident. He demanded the release of compensation to affected people.
JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem said that the local bodies system has been held hostage in the city, adding that the people of affected areas were come into the streets.
He urged the authorities concerned to ensure speedy relief to the affected families despite making the incident "a political issue".
Hafiz Naeem demanded Rs 2 billion compensation money to the affected families of the Timber Market in Karachi and also an alternative business place for them.-PR
