Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Nasir Cheema has landed himself in trouble for using pictures of the army chief and chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) in his election campaign advertisements and posters.
During the hearing of an appeal against the PTI candidate, Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza criticized Cheema and asked him why the pictures of Army Chief General Qamar Javer Bajwa and CJP Saqib Nisar were used in his campaign, local media reported.
"Are they your relatives? What is their link to the elections?" The ECP commissioner asked the PTI candidate. Cheema, who is contesting from Gujranwala's constituency PP-62, replied that the posters and advertisements were put up before the election schedule emerged.
Scheduling the hearing for July 9, Raza directed the PTI candidate to submit a written reply as to why his candidacy should not be stopped.
