Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday called on the government to take action against the officials involved in the extra judicial killing of MQM worker who was arrested from the airport. In a statement, he also demanded of the prime minister, the army chief and the interior minister to order an inquiry into the murder of MQM worker Sikandar Ali and get a case registered against those responsible for the killing.
Hussain said that law enforcement agencies were bound to produce detainees before court and had no right to kill. Altaf Hussain asserted, "None has the right to kill an arrested person in custody instead of producing him before the court. The PPP has appointed such officers that are notorious for their barbarity and brutality." The Muttahida chief remarked that these officers were tasked in Karachi to for extrajudicial targeted killings of the MQM workers. The Muttahida activists are being picked and disappeared, and thus the MQM is being subjected to political victimisation, he added.
