Polling for the third round of Local Government elections ended peacefully across the province, here on Wednesday. Election Commissioner Balochistan, Syed Sultan Bayazid said that the polling for 612 seats of labourers and peasants out of total 1,486 during which the elected members of Metropolitan, District and Union Councils cast the vote.
He said as many as 769 candidates for Peasants and Labourers had been elected unopposed while no papers were filed against 105 such seats in various districts of the province.
"Some 1,482 candidates were in the ring for 612 vacant seats of labourers and peasants", he said, adding the returned candidates against these seats would be notified by January 2 next. He said a total of 338 polling stations had been established across the province.
