PAL observes 100th death anniversary of Maulana Hali

"Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali is such a personality of our literature who kept the basement of new poetry with Muhammad Hussain Azad and in criticism he is regarded as the pioneer." Former Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said this while presiding over a ceremony held here at Pakistan Academy of Letters on Wednesday.
The programme "Bayad-e-Hali" was held in connection with 100th death anniversary of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali. Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said the change in thinking of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali started at that time when he was affiliated with Ali Garah Movement. "Hali narrated the critical condition of society, in his poetry which was famous as 'Mussadas-e-Hali'. He presented successful example of autobiography in Urdu literature and the traces of his poetry can be found from the poetry of Allama Iqbal to modern era."
Zahida Parveen, Director General, PAL, renowned literary figures Dr Ehsan Akbar, Muhammad Izhar-ul-Haq, Muhammad Hameed Shahid and Dr Najeeba Arif expressed their views on the occasion. Zahida Parveen, Director General PAL, sharing views said Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali had great place in Urdu literature either in prose or poetry. She told to the audience that PAL was working on different projects for the welfare of writers and PAL would accomplish its all project successfully with the help of authors. "Hali's poetry opens new horizon on the earth of literature. Unfortunately, society moved in crucial circumstances when he was composing his 'Mussadas-e-Hali', now the condition is the same."
