Bullish sentiments continued for another day and the equities registered further gains amid ascending transaction volume on account of fresh buying. The LSE-25 index was improved to 6296.33 against 6216.77 of Thursday, denoting a gain of 79.56 points while trading turnover was increased to 2.104 million shares compared with day earlier volume of 813,600 shares.
The market was opened on a mixed note and remained range-bound during first trading session. However, as soon as the second session started, the investors made entries in Engro Corporation, Engro Fertilizer, Fauji Fertilizer, Nishat Mills, Hascol Petroleum, Treet Corporation, Cherat Cement, Pak Elektron, Maple Leaf Cement, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Fauji Cement, K-Electric, Southern Electric Power and Summit Bank.
Simultaneously, profit taking was also seen in Bank Alfalah, Bank Al-Habib, Askari Bank, Bank of Punjab, KASB Bank, Dewan Farooq Motors, IGI Investment, Pervez Ahmed Securities and Byco Petroleum. The gainers were more than the losers, as out of a total of 107 active issues, 33 companies posted gains, 11 suffered declines while 63 companies stayed glued to their previous closing.
Ferozsons Laboratories gained Rs 9.05, Engro Corporation was improved by Rs 8.00, Nishat Mills was appreciated by Rs 5.10 while Hascol Petroleum and Cherat Cement were up by Rs 3.70 and Rs 3.61, respectively. National Foods lost Rs 6.22, Bank Alfalah was declined y Rs 1.07 while Bank Al-Habib and Askari Bank were down by 46-paisa and 25-paisa, respectively. Bank of Punjab was the market leader whose 494,000 shares changed hands followed by K-Electric with 450,000 shares.
