Taiwan stocks rose on Thursday following rebounds in overseas markets. As of 0128 GMT, the main TAIEX index was up 124.49 points at 9,209.58, after closing up 0.35 percent on Wednesday. Gains were broad-based as investors hunted for bargains after Tuesday's rout which saw the main index drop 2.43 percent on the day, its worst session performance in nearly three months.
The electronics subindex was up 1.6 percent, the financial subindex was up 1.1 percent, while the transport index was also up 1.5 percent. Among actively traded shares, display maker AU Optronics rose 5 percent, while airliner China Airlines was 3.2 percent higher. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.005 to stand at T$31.996 to the US dollar.
