National Highway tragedy: Drivers, owners booked

Memon Goth police on Monday registered an FIR against drivers and owners of both oil tanker and passenger coach. The oil tanker and passenger coach collided with each other on National Highway near Memon Goth claiming some 62 lives during early hours of Sunday (11 January).
"The FIR was registered under sections 04/15, 319,320,322,279/337G/34 of session trial court, both drivers and owners of vehicles have been nominated in the case," said an official in Memon Goth police station. He said the police have started investigations into the case. However, the police was not able to arrest the driver of oil tanker who fled from the scene after the incident till filing of the story.
Identifications of victims could not be ascertained, according to doctors at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). They said that the samples of relatives of the victims have been sent to Islamabad for forensic examinations. They said the procedure of DNA is a bit longer and will take around two weeks. The sources said that identification of only one deceased out of 62 causalities was ascertained whose body was shifted to his native village near Shikarpur on Sunday night.
