Ukrainian grain exports at 20 million tonnes

13 Jan, 2015

Ukraine, which has promised to prevent grain export curbs this season, exported a total of 20 million tonnes of grain in the period from July 1 2014 to January 12 2015, the agriculture ministry said on Monday. The volume included 8.3 million tonnes of wheat, 7.8 million tonnes of maize and 3.7 million tonnes of barley, it said in a statement.
Agriculture minister Oleksiy Pavlenko told Reuters on Saturday that Ukrainian grain exports were likely to total about 33 million tonnes of grain versus 32.8 million tonnes a season previously. Ukraine harvested about 64 million tonnes of grain in 2014. Pavlenko also said Ukraine had no plans to restrict grain exports after Russia introduced curbs to stabilise surging prices.
