'No foreigner held from PU hostels'

The Punjab University spokesman while clarifying a news item published in various newspapers has said that no foreigner has been arrested from PU hostels during a search operation conducted on Tuesday night.
The spokesman said that the search operation was conducted by hostel administration alone under the supervision of Chairman Hall Council Professor Dr Muhammad Akhter and the team included Secretary Hall Council Imran Javed, Resident Officer 1 Professor Dr Sajid Rashid, Resident Officer II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, wardens and superintendents of various hostels.
The spokesman said that PU team searched hostel number 15, 17, 18 and 19 and found four students of evening classes residing illegally. Two students were found from hostel number 18 and two were found from hostel number 19 and were handed over to Muslim Town police. The arrested students of evening classes included Muhammad Qasim, Zubair Ali, Bilal Qayyum and Bilal Muhammad, he added.
PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has inaugurated newly renovated main corridor of Institute of Education and Research (IER) related academic blocks here on Wednesday. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Law Professor Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, Registrar Dr Liaqat Ali, Controller Examinations Dr Shahid Munir, Resident Officer-I Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmed, Additional Registrar Dr Kamran Abid, Additional Registrar-II Malik Muhammad Zaheer, senior faculty and administrative officials were present. The historical IER corridor has now been renovated with beautiful tiles which had added to the beauty of corridor.
