The city police on Wednesday nabbed 179 suspects during on-going search operation from different parts of the federal capital. A police official said that on the directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the city police chief Tahir Alam Khan constituted a police team headed by Sub-Divisional Police (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to carry out a search operation in slum areas, Afghan Abadis, under construction buildings, workshops, bus stands and hotels.
The SHOs were also directed to intensify patrolling and checking in the limits of their police station, he said. He said that the city police have carried out the search operation in the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Industrial Area, Shahzad Town and Golra police stations in the different sectors including I-11/4, F-12, E-11 Faizabad, Pandorian and other adjacent areas of the city. The police have arrested 179 suspects and further investigation is underway, he said.
