Former chief of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan on Sunday said that Muslim rulers should react strongly to blasphemous cartoons. He said that the Muslim Ummah will continue to protest throughout the world as long as those who made blasphemous cartoons remain at large.
Addressing a rally organised by JI against the printing of blasphemous cartoon in a French weekly here in Karachi, Hassan said that the magazines and newspapers in some countries were continuously publishing blasphemous cartoons just to hurt the feelings and sentiments of the Muslims. JI rally was taken out from Islamia College which culminated at near Mazar-e-Quaid.
Addressing the rally, JI Karachi chief Engineer Naeem-ur-Rehman demanded of the government of Pakistan to protest against publishing of the blasphemous cartoons. He said that JI would protest throughout the country on January 23 against the cartoons and would hold a million march in Karachi on 25th.
Chairman Churches Society of Pakistan Manuel Victor also attended the rally and announced to protest against the blasphemous cartoons from the platform of minorities.
