Punjab University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that teachers must study unbiased and original history besides mastering their subjects so that they could know the reasons behind the things happening in the world. He was addressing a session of assistant professors of Punjab University who have completed indigenous on campus training programme jointly organised by Higher Education Commission and University of the Punjab.
Programme's Convenor and Dean Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Professor Dr Zakria Zakir, Registrar Professor Dr Liaqat Ali, Director Planning and Development Engr Tariq Majeed Qureshi, Dr Shazia Khalid and a large number of assistant professors were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran said the great nations were under the control of world's financial elite because of concentration of wealth while around 1.5 billion Muslims of the world had almost no share in creation of new knowledge and those were the two biggest problems the world was facing. He said there were some sensitive responsibilities on the shoulders of assistant professors as they would be managing administrative affairs of the university in future. He advised them to give maximum time to the students.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zakria Zakir has said the training programme had provided an opportunity to the teachers to interact with the teachers of other disciplines. He said teachers had not only got knowledge of various rules and regulations but their administrative skills had also improved. He said teachers must make all-out efforts to promote culture of research on campus and respond to the intellectual needs of the society.
