Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 112,598 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,185 tonnes of import cargo and 25,413 tonnes of export cargo including 1,925 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 87,185 tonnes comprised of 3,116 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,307 tonnes of general cargo; 2,811 tonnes of DAP and 62,951 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,413 tonnes comprised of 20,282 tonnes of containerised cargo; 130 tonnes of general cargo; 5,001 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,135 tonnes of cement and 3,866 tonnes of rice. As many as 1,925 containers comprising of 289 containers import and 1,636 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 50 of 20's and 95 of 40's loaded while 17 of 20's and 16 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 612 of 20's and 251 of 40's loaded containers while 32 of 20's and 245 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Commodore, KMTC Mumbai, MT Lahore, Huseyn Javid, Artemis Leader, Al Mahboobah, Mathawee Naree and Conti Flint carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicles, fertilizer and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Wan Hai-172, Artemis Leader and Ginga Merlin carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Wan Hai-172 and Ginga Merlin carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely X-Press Kailash, Pacific Ace and Pacific Pride carrying containers and general cargo are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. YM Portland, Kota Kaya, Torm Vita and BBC Texas carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while four vessels viz. PAC Aries, Mid Falcon, Agria and BSLE Princess carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total export cargo of 40,102 tonnes includes 12,911 tonnes of cement; 2,624 tonnes of steel coil and 24,567 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,369 containers comprising of 2,076 containers import and 1,293 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Maureen, MT Borania and MT Bunga Angsana with containers and oil tankers sailed out sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of ten vessels viz. CV Safmarine Ngami, CV MSC Maureen, CV X-Press Kailash, CV K Phoenix, MV Ikan Prang, MV Venus Triumph, MV Sino-6, MT Bunga Angsana, MT Liberty-N and MT Boronia currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel coil, project cargo, fertilizer, palm oil, LPG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Al-Farhidi and Ince Karadeniz carrying containers and rape seeds respectively are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday. There was one vessel viz. CV Al-Farhidi carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday. There is one ship namely MT Global Tanya carrying LPG due to arrive on Tuesday, while two ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant and CV Maersk Atlanta carrying containers are due to arrive on Wednesday.
