Provision of inaccurate data to TRC angers FBR chief

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Tariq Bajwa has shown displeasure over the negligence of tax officials, who provided inaccurate tax related data to the Tax Reforms Commission engaged in drafting new tax policy. In this regard, the FBR has issued instructions to all FBR Members here on Wednesday regarding authenticity of information provided to the Tax Reforms Commission.
According to the FBR's instructions to the Members, during the 3rd meeting of the Tax Reforms Commission (TRC) held on January 17 at Lahore, the Chairman TRC pointed out inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the data provided by the FBR to Commission. Chairman TRC cited few examples where the data provided at a later date did not match the earlier data.
Chairman FBR has shown his displeasure and has directed that from now onwards all the data provided to the TRC should be personally examined by the Member concerned and should be issued under his personal signatures. All the data sheets are to be initialled by the Member himself, the FBR chief added.
