Sindh police working on plan to bring Uzair back to country

A team of the Sindh Police would shortly leave for United Arab Emirates (UAE) to bring back the alleged ringleader of Lyari gang war, Uzair Baloch, who was arrested by Dubai authorities last month, it was learnt. Sources both in the Sindh Police and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told Business Recorder that the UAE authorities had handed over Baloch to the Interpol after arresting him from Dubai when he crossed the border through Oman by road.
The sources said that a team led by SSP Naveed Khawaja had been constituted which would leave for Dubai shortly after fulfilling legal formalities. "As he (Baloch) has been handed over to the Interpol, Sindh Police is sending a team to bring him back to the country to face the law," said a senior Sindh Police officer on condition of anonymity.
Authorities said Baloch was travelling from Oman to Dubai on 'fake' Iranian passport with a fake name "Abdol Ghani" when the UAE authorities arrested him last month. Baloch was handed over to the Interpol after he was identified with his real name, sources added.
The sources further said that soon after his arrest, the authorities approached Pakistan Consulate in Dubai for identification and possible extradition back to the country. They said Interpol had issued red warrants of the main accused of the Lyari Gang War Uzair Baloch and Noor Mohammad formally known as Baba Ladla on June 11, 2014 on the request of the government of Pakistan. Baloch is wanted to Sindh police in over a dozen of murder cases, kidnapping, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and other criminal cases of heinous nature.
The former Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government in May 2012 announced the bounty on 'the most wanted criminals' of the Lyari. Uzair Baloch was among the others who carried head money of Rs 2 million. But the PPP government later withdrew the notification of his head money prior to general elections of May 2013, apparently an election move to get the support of the people of Lyari.
