The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday sought applications from party candidates interested in Senate's elections scheduled for March 03. According to a statement issued here by the party central media office, the ruling party has called upon the interested candidates to send Rs 50, 000 bank drafts in the name of PML-N, account No HBL 2347-48, Super Market, Islamabad, along with their applications and submit at the party central secretariat, House No 20, Street No 10, Sector F-8/3.
The statement further stated that the interested candidates could download the applications from the PML-N official website and submit by January 30, 2015. PML-N currently holds 16 seats in the Upper House of the Parliament while its eight senators are retiring on March 11, 2015. Prominent among those retiring included Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan, Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Begum Najma Hameed.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has already notified 52 senators belonging to different political parties who will be retiring on March 11 on completion of their term in the office. The election for the vacant seats will be held on March 03.
